I worked for 28 years in the NHS in sexual health as a counsellor and for 5 years as a psychosexual therapist leading a team of psychosexual therapists within an NHS sexual health department, before leaving in 2022, to work in private practice as a therapist and supervisor.
Prior to my work in the NHS, I worked as a counsellor for the Rainbow Trust working with terminally ill children and their families in their respite centre. It was a challenging and rewarding experience to work alongside people at this difficult time in their lives, before, during and after the death of their child.
HIV has been a part of my life for many years, both through paid employment and in the past, volunteering for Surrey and East Hants AIDS helpline where I helped with training and volunteered for the phone service and home support.
Horse riding has always been my passion. I ran my own stables and taught horse riding for 15 years and continue to be involved with horses and the countryside.
For 15 years I coordinated the LGBTQ + group at St James Church in Piccadilly, London, offering a welcome to people of all faiths and none, within the Church of England
